Aloe Vera juice has miracle health benefits! It's one of nature's finest wonders. Aloe Vera gel is equally good - but used externally. In fact, it's used in many everyday health & beauty products.
I personally use the juice for dental implants that frequently become inflamed. I just take a drink...swish it in my mouth for a few minutes... then swallow it. I do this right before going to bed...and is works wonders!
Every home should have one of these beautiful plant. Anytime you have a need, simply break off one of the leaves for burns, wounds, stings or bites, acne, poison ivy, eczema, or blemishes. Always use one of the lower leaves because those are older and more potent.
The plant should be kept in a well-lit location that is not in direct sunlight. Depending on the amount of gel that you need at the moment, you can break off a piece or a whole leaf. Slice the leaf longways and it will be easy to find the precious gel inside.
In addition to what I've already listed, Aloe Vera has the following properties:
* Antibiotic
* Astringent
* Coagulating agent
* Biogenic stimulator - accelerates healing
* Scar inhibitor
* Non-toxic
Since Aloe Vera juice/gel benefits include burns, it's important to know the difference in burn categories because you will want to seek medical attention for serious burns. Burns are categorized as follows:
1. First Degree - Skin not broken
2. Second Degree - Broken skin/blisters
3. Third Degree - Open wound - all layers of skin destroyed
4. Fourth Degree - Skin charred
Aloe Vera is wonderful to use as a first-aid treatment, but serious burns can result in infection because the skin is broken. I would use it as soon as an accident happens regardless of the degree of burning... because it is quickly absorbed and will be good to use until you can get to the hospital/doctor. It won't interfere with any additional treatments.
A good Aloe Vera sunscreen will block out 90% of the sun's harmful rays...but still allow over 75% of the tanning rays to reach the skin. In case of sunburn, you can apply the gel directly from the plant or use the juice in a spray bottle. Spray frequently to reduce the pain, stiffness and amount of peeling.
It's worth mentioning that many people suffering from arthritis report that their pain is greatly reduced simply by drinking an ounce of Aloe Vera 2-4 times daily. You can drink it straight - or if you prefer...mix with juice or water. Try it for at least a couple of months to see if you notice a difference in your pain. And yes, Aloe Vera can be used to help arthritic pets.
Tip: If you're looking for an awesome gift for someone - give them a beautiful Aloe Vera plant. They will love you for it!
