Talks about passive smoking, air pollution, and other triggers of asthma and allergy attacks or serious respiratory conditions often lead to the question: Is there a lasting, effective, and inexpensive way of treating these diseases?
Filipinos today are discovering a natural treatment when synthetic medicines just can’t cut it anymore Buteyko breathing reconditioning program.
Introduced in the country by Jac Vidgen, an Australian senior practitioner with 17 years of experience in teaching the method, Buteyko has helped many Filipinos for the past 14 years find immediate relief from asthma, allergies (rhinitis and excess mucous), sleep apnea, anxiety disorders, hay fever, coughing, and stress.
The method has also been effective in managing serious cases of emphysema and COPD, migraine, hypertension, chronic bronchitis, digestive disorders, and immune or hormone function. Filipinos have also benefited from the method in controlling weight, treating skin disorders or enhancing sports performance.
“People should realize that even while taking on a healthier lifestyle is reasonably good, they first need to know that breathing properly remains the key in alleviating and even stopping these diseases from developing,” Vidgen explains.
Buteyko breathing techniques help balance the oxygen and carbon dioxide levels in the body. When people overbreathe or hyperventilate, they excessively lose carbon dioxide, which then causes reduced supply of oxygen from blood to cells, plus vessel constriction and disturbance to pH and metabolism, that leads to asthma and even diabetes or cancer if they are genetically predisposed to these illnesses.
Vidgen will conduct free introductory lectures on the Buteyko method on Tuesday, August 2, 7-9 p.m. and Saturday, August 6, 3-5p.m. at Living Life Well, 5th level, Mega Atrium, SM Megamall, Mandaluyong City.
He will also speak on Wednesday, August 3, 7-9 p.m. at PhilDHRRA Partnership Center, 59 C. Salvador St. (left off B. Gonzales, Katipunan Avenue), Loyola Heights, Quezon City, and Thursday, August 4, 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at In Touch Community Services, 48-A McKinley Road, Forbes Park (2/F Holy Trinity Church compound across from San Antonio Plaza), Makati City.
Vidgen will conduct a series of workshops (open to adults and children over four years old) in the country starting on August 9. He is also available for private consultations and online coaching. Introducing Buteyko in Southeast Asia, Vidgen also regularly teaches the method in Hong Kong, Thailand, and Indonesia.
