Sugar is a sweet, funny thing. For some of us, it’s a love-hate affair that borders around obsession, caution and indulgence. To others, it’s merely just glucose and/or fructose; have too much of it and you get diabetes.
Regardless of which group you belong to, you probably can’t avoid having sugar in your diet, so it’s always a good idea to understand better what you eating. Perhaps after reading this entry, you’ll find that sugar isn’t as bad as you had imagined – or possibly much worse than you believe.

Older women bothered by severe, chronic constipation may have a higher risk of heart disease than those who aren’t, according to a U.S. study of older women.
While the findings, based on more than 70,000 postmenopausal women, do not mean that constipation itself explains the extra risk, women with chronic constipation may tend to have more risk factors for heart disease such as a low-fiber diet, too little exercise, and higher rates of high blood pressure or high cholesterol.

Women who get silicone breast implants are likely to need additional surgery within 10 years to address complications such as rupturing of the device, U.S. health regulators said on Wednesday.
The Food and Drug Administration will work to revise safety labels for silicone breast implants after reviewing data from several long-term studies, which also showed that the products had a small link to a rare form of cancer.

Older people who use olive oil in their cooking and on their salads may have a lower risk of suffering a stroke, researchers recently reported.
In a study that followed older French adults for five years, researchers found that those who regularly used olive oil were 41 percent less likely to have a stroke than those who never used the oil.
